The choice of helicopter as a camera platform is important. It depends on the type of shot and where that shot takes place. We will recommend a helicopter type for a specific job based on the location and the type of shot. Then, we will find the appropriate helicopter from the nearest source. We attempt to make provision to carry another DOP, director or client if requested. If the shot is a dramatic pull-away, at high altitude, in high temperatures or requires a heavy camera system, it needs a powerful helicopter for which we have the Bell 407 or AS350B3 Squirrel...the most powerful variant. Straightforward shots over open countryside using lightweight equipment won't need anything special; but whichever helicopter is used, it must be able to carry the camera equipment safely and certified by the local Aviation Authority. Camera mounts have to be designed to fit specific helicopters, and those mounts must be approved to fly by the Civil Aviation Authority. We use a variety of aircraft for filming including the following:
AS 350B3 Single Squirrel
AS 355 Twin Squirrel
Bell 206 JetRanger and LongRanger
Bell 407

The STAB-C COMPACT (Stabilizing Cradle) is a unique 5-axis stabilizing camera system which eliminates adverse motion artefacts from pan, tilt and roll. This completely silent system allows a large range of cameras, from Hi-DEF video to full size Arriflex film and digital cameras. It can be used on many types of camera cranes, camera cars, cable supports, descended rigs, telescopic cranes and helicopters, producing stable images throughout a typical 25-250mm (film lens) zoom range. Fully operational in the sitting or hanging mode, STAB-C COMPACT is able to point straight down, and features adjustable side arms to accommodate many size payloads.

The STAB-C COMPACT and all its features are fully controllable via our Advanced Data Link, which can allow the head and control desk to be miles apart. Our Advanced Data Link fully integrates with any microwave, laser, RF, IR, or other communication relay systems on the market. The utmost in creativity can be attained with the STAB-C COMPACT because the roll axis is fully controllable / manoeuvrable, yet stabilized. It also features Dutch / Tilt compensated steering for operator ease and perfect shots.

This system has been engineered to be fully operational in -30o F freezing weather to sweltering 120o F temperatures in the harshest of climates. In each of these extreme cases the Stab-C COMPACT system has worked perfectly, surpassing expectations every time.
